Pastoral Care
At Warwick School we pride ourselves on the quality of pastoral care provided. It is our priority to ensure all pupils are safe and happy.
In school, all teachers, in addition to Form Tutors, care not only about their subject area but also about how each student is coping. This is made easier by having a maximum of 24 pupils per class.
At Warwick School, boys have access to quality, all-round education and personal attention from top quality teachers and other staff, including the school nurses, the school chaplain and a school counsellor.
There are 4 main aspects of the pastoral care offered at Warwick School. Within each of these areas, there are a large number of initiatives and systems in place to ensure we deliver the necessary care. Below we list just a few examples.
1.Academic Progress
Concern for academic progress involves rewarding success as well as exploring reasons for any underachievement. The Credits System rewards outstanding effort and achievement.
Examples of the systems in place; Parents Evenings and Meetings, Form Orders and Streamlined reports, Personal Development Plan and Target Day.
2. Pupil Behaviour and Attitudes
It is expected that issues relating to general behaviour will be reported to Form Tutors and Heads of Section using the de-merit system. These issues might then be referred to the Pastoral Committee.
Examples of the systems in place; Whole school behaviour and discipline policy, De-merit system, Prefects, Detention
3. Personal and Social Development
The Senior Master (Pastoral) is responsible for the programme of Personal, Social and Health Education throughout the school. Heads of Section and all members of the school staff have a role in the implementation of this programme in their respective section.
Examples of the systems in place; PSHCE education, Chapel Services, Induction Programme, The House System, The School Council and Student Voice
4. Individual Pupil Needs
The pastoral concern for individual's needs involves a consideration of personal problems threatening the pupil's well-being in some way.
Examples of the systems in place; The Pastoral Committee, Peer Support System, Bullying Policy, The Medical Centre and School Nurse
