Design and Technology
Design and Technology is part of the curriculum for all boys in the first three years, after which they are equipped to begin study for GCSE.
The central aim is to prepare pupils to meet the needs of the 21st century; to stimulate originality, enterprise, practical capability in design and production, and the adaptability needed to cope with a rapidly changing
technological society.
In the Middle 5th year boys may choose Design and Technology as an option for GCSE. This requires a more specialised study of the foundation work and encourages pursuit of an individual’s particular interests through course work.
Students are prepared for the Advanced Level examination which consists of 50% coursework with a special Product Study. A final examination tests their knowledge and understanding of the principles of design and the application of technological processes.
The Design and Technology facilities are available during specified lunch-times and after school.
