Awards and Achievements 2016-2017

Warwick School boasts many successes and for 2016-2017 is proud to announce the following:

Academic

  • Eight students have received Oxbridge offers
  • Exceptional A Level and GCSE results
  • Chemistry Olympiad - record equalling four Gold, two Silver and five Bronze awards
  • Maths team finished 27th out of 1290 schools in the final of the UKMT Maths Challenge
  • Biology Olympiad - best ever set of medals in history of entering competition, with Sachin Sudakharin receiving Gold placing him in the top 400 (out of 7,500 entrants)
  • Three teams through to the national semi-final of the Student Investor Challenge
  • Josh Brown invited to represent the UK at the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics which takes place in Thailand in November 2017

Sporting

  • U15 rugby team NatWest runners-up 2017 (runners-up 2014, winners 2007)
  • U18 rugby team NatWest winners 2017 (winners in 2014, 2013, runners-up 2015)
  • Nick Rigby and Nick David selected for England U18 rugby squad
  • Nick Rigby selected for U18 Englang squad to tour South Africa - Summer 2017
  • Tom Fawcett selected for England U17 rugby squad and youth Commonwealth England 7s team, playing in the Bahamas in July
  • Angus McDonald selected for Scotland U16 rugby squad
  • Cian Tyler offered full-time contract with Coventry City and played for Wales U15 in international tournament in Qatar
  • U15 cricket team are National Finalists, in T20 competition
  • Warwick School selected by The Cricketer magazine as a Top 100 School for the 2nd year running  
  • Reuben Trotter selected for the British Triathlon South Central Region Academy
  • Swimming: Senior, Intermediate & Junior teams all through to National finals
  • Harry Lazell invited to attend boy's Lawn Tennis U14 National Junior Camp in Spain and also to represent Team GB in Italy this July
  • Zien Zhou competed in the 2017 World Para Athletics Grand Prix, after renewing all of his PB's
  • Harry Stone selected for the UK Lions U13 hockey squad
  • Rob Yates selected for England U16 cricket
  • Vaughan Hamilton selected for GB U17 real tennis

Music and Drama

  • Sam Young awarded first prize in a competition at the Royal Academy of Music
  • Luke Barker selected for the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain and the National Childrens' Band of Great Britain (for the third consecutive year)
  • National Concert Band Festival finals: two Platinum, three Gold
  • Samuel Littell performs in Julius Caesar at the RSC, Stratford-upon-Avon as Brutus’s boy Lucius
  • Warwick School choir, George Wilkes, Archie Whitby, Daniel Buxton, James Nash and Sam Young through to the National Festival of Music Youth Finals, to take place in Birmingham in July. They will perform Sam Young's composition 'Lux Noxque'

Co-Curricular

  • Owen Gee shortlisted for the RSPCA Young Photographer of the Year
  • Young Enterprise team Azure though to West Midlands finals
  • Warwick School awarded bronze status in the Green Flag Award national scheme
