Exam Results
A LEVEL 2012
The A Level results were again excellent with a 100% pass rate and with 86% of all grades being passed at A*-B grades, and showed an improvement on last year’s impressive results. Mr Halse said, “Once again I am delighted that boys and staff worked hard to obtain these splendid results. 57% of grades were at A*A grade, 25% of grades were at A* grade, 47 boys gained three or more A*A grades and five boys gained five or more A*A grades.
Outstanding results were achieved by Hugo Sun, also a gifted musician, who gained seven A* grades in Economics, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Chinese. Hugo has won an unconditional place to read Mathematics at Cambridge.” Mr Halse continued, “It is worth emphasising that Warwick School boys not only attain super results through tremendous hard work, steadfast support from their parents and the skills and commitment of our dedicated teachers but also are provided with the broadest education possible in which all boys are given the opportunity to participate in a choice of some 90 activities each week. Excellent results coupled with such great opportunities have clearly culminated in another hugely successful year.”
GCSE results were the best ever with 78% of entries recorded at A*A grades and with 94% of grades at A*-B. Five local boys, Alex Abbott-Parker, Edward Evans, Jack Foden, Ben Lavelle and Robert Loveridge all gained a full set of 11 or 12 A*s, with a further seven boys gaining 10 A*s.
Edward Halse, Head Master, said, “I fully expected this year group to do well because they are talented and have worked very hard throughout their school careers, but I was especially thrilled to note that a record 41% of all entries were recorded at A* and at a time when the national percentage of top grades is falling. I pay a giant tribute to the boys, their gifted and committed teachers and, importantly, to the parents who work in close partnership with the school to ensure our boys do realise their potential here.”
