English:
Oral and written comprehension, and the encouragement of a wider range of reading; the further development of creative writing allied to language work; developing the understanding of the spoken word and a capacity to express oneself effectively in speaking and listening activities. Drama. Use of computer programmes.
Mathematics:
All the 1st Year work is consolidated. The 4 rules are reinforced with larger numbers including long multiplication. Other topics include: money, equivalent fraction, area and perimeter, averages and problem solving. The boys learn how to collect data using a tally chart and displaying the data on a bar graph. Mental arithmetic is practiced throughout the year.
Science:
The continued study of the natural environment, developing the scientific skills of observation, recording and analysis. I.C.T. Writing for Different Audiences, Graphics – manipulating and editing, combining text and graphics, use of the internet and branching databases.
History:
Ancient Greece. Local history, with particular reference to Warwick Castle and the history of Warwick School.
Geography:
Ways of improving our environment. Life in a less economically developed country (Kenya). Earthquakes and volcanoes.
Religious Education:
The study of the life of Jesus. Self-confidence, feelings communication.
Music, French, Art, Technology, Physical Education, Games and Performing Arts complete the curriculum.
