National Youth Theatre Success

Sam Littell from Warwick School has been selected to be part of the prestigious National Youth Theatre (NYT) this Summer.

Sam, who recently played George Banks in the Middle School production of Mary Poppins, beat thousands of other young people from across the UK who auditioned for a place at the Summer Intake Course.

The National Youth Theatre was established in 1956 and is a world leading youth arts organisation, launching the careers of many aspiring actors and designers, with notable alumni including Helen Mirren, Daniel Craig, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rosamund Pike, Daniel Day-Lewis, Orlando Bloom, Catherine Tate, Matt Lucas, Hugh Bonneville, Matt Smith and many more.

As part of the summer programme, Sam will be given a chance to work with inspirational course directors, guest tutors and other talented young people from across the UK, and will also gain acting membership to the NYT upon completion of the course.

Mike Perry, Director of Drama at Warwick School says “It is quite an achievement to be selected for the National Youth Theatre, particularly given Sam’s young age, and further demonstrates him to be an  actor of considerable promise. Taking part in the summer programme will be an unforgettable experience for Sam, performing alongside many of the best young actors in the UK. We wish him every success.”

Drama plays an important role in life at Warwick School, with regular productions for lower, middle and senior school boys, often in collaboration with our sister school King’s High School. Alongside given many opportunities to perform, boys can participate in all aspects of theatre, from set design to music and lighting, all based in our own professionally run venues, The Bridge House Theatre and Warwick Hall. The school was recently awarded Trinity Champion Centre status, an important initiative that highlights the exciting work of Arts Awards centres by advocating the award in their communities and sharing good practice.
