Warwick School U15 A's V Oakham School

On Monday, 16 January, our U15 A Rugby team played Oakham School in the Last 16 of the Natwest Cup.

From the outset, Warwick were on top and after a period of sustained pressure, scored a try through Captain, Benjie. The team balanced dynamic ball carrying and dogged defence with clever tactical play to outsmart the opposition and score two more fantastic tries in the first half, while playing into the wind.

The highlight of the first half was a Ned's try from a perfectly weighted Tom kick that saw Ned beat the fullback and score from sixty metres out. This was one of a remarkable five tries scored by Ned in an outstanding performance.

The second half continued in a similar vein and saw the forward pack begin to assert their authority over Oakham with a strong maul that led to penalties and additional territory. Hard ball carries combined with great organisation from the half backs, James and Tom sucked in the Oakham defence and allowed Tolly and Ned to score the remaining tries. The final score was 41-12 to Warwick which means we are now in the Quarter Final against QEGS Wakefield at the start of February.
