Head of Modern Foreign Languages (Warwick School)

We are looking to recruit an inspirational and committed teacher to join us as Head of Modern Foreign Languages from September 2022. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a large team. The successful candidate will be able to teach to Oxbridge level and will have excellent people-management skills. The ability to teach French and German with at least one of these languages to A level would be advantageous.

The Modern Languages Department currently comprises eight teachers and three assistants and is housed in a purpose-built block containing seven classrooms and a workroom. We currently follow AQA for A level and Edexcel for IGCSE. Boys choose two languages from French, German and Spanish to study throughout years 7 and 8, and can then elect to continue with both or one for year 9 and onwards for GCSE. Talented linguists who also want to continue their pursuit of classical languages or particular creative subjects have appreciated the flexibility that such an option system allows. We have a strong cohort of A level linguists in all three languages, often in shared groups with girls from King’s High, and we boast a strong tradition of sending linguists to Oxbridge and other leading universities.

The Department also offers a range of extracurricular activities and trips, with recent visits to the Opal Coast, Alicante, Cologne, Lyon and Barcelona. There is a real focus on developing a passion for modern languages throughout the school, with German games and cooking, film clubs, an MFL book club, Flamenco dancing and debating societies in both French and Spanish.

For further details and information on how to apply, please see the attached information pack below. Completed application from to be submitted to: hr@warwickschools.co.uk. Closing date for applications: 12 pm Monday 21 March 2022. Scheduled interview date: Friday 25 March 2022.

We are looking to recruit a talented and inspirational Music Teacher to join the department from September 2022. The ability to run choral music would be desirable, although not essential.

We are extremely proud of the rich musical provision at Warwick School that sees students working at diploma level in award-winning ensembles whilst also providing over 60 different musical groups for boys at all levels. In the past year we have seen choristers excelling at the Music for Youth School Proms, whilst the concert bands have excelled at the NCBF with six groups making it through to the finals. Each year boys are represented in National groups such as the National Youth Orchestra but this does not come at the cost of provision for all. The Year 7 Music scheme means that all pupils have expert tuition on an instrument and many boys continue to learn with the peripatetic music teachers, such that 750 individual lessons are taught each week. We are very fortunate to have Heads of every section (Strings, Brass, Jazz and Rock, Woodwind and Keyboard) who ensure that there are opportunities for every boy to play in an ensemble.

Academic music is a popular subject at GCSE and A-level. At GCSE we teach the CIE IGCSE specification with the majority of candidates achieving the top grades. At A-level we teach Pearson Edexcel specification and this is occasionally taught in conjunction with our sister school, King’s High.

For further details and information on how to apply please see attached job pack.

Completed application forms to be sent to: hr@warwickschools.co.uk. Closing date for applications: 12 pm Monday 21 March 2022. Interview date scheduled for: Thursday 24 March 2022.

Psychology occupies one of the classrooms on the same floor as Biology, giving students the opportunity for cross-curricular activities i.e. Biopsychology. The department has modern ICT equipment with access to the Science ICT rooms and the Science Lecture Theatre, which can seat 130 students.

Psychology is a popular subject at A Level, with approximately 30 students choosing it as an option.
