A Day in the Life

Four Platinum, Two Gold!

Congratulations to all of the musicians who took part in the National Concert Band Festival (NCBF).

Six bands performed at the National Concert Band Festival in Nottingham on Sunday 2 December. The Foundation achieved the best results in living memory. All bands played a 20 minute programme including one piece from a prescribed set list. The bands were judged by a team of experienced adjudicators on eight specific musical criteria including: tuning, balance, ensemble etc.

Four bands achieved the highest Platinum Award and two bands achieved Gold Awards.

Warwick School is thrilled to have all six bands qualify for the National Concert Band Festival (NCBF) finals – the first school ever to achieve this. The six bands include two Warwick Independent Schools Foundation bands; Foundation Wind Orchestra and Camerata which include girls from King’s High School.

Keith Allen, Festival Director of the NCBF said, “For the very first time at the NCBF Nationals, we have a school participating with six bands, setting a record that will be hard to match anywhere in the UK. This year Warwick School has achieved amazing musical standards, much admired by adjudicators, audience…and many other schools! Well done Warwick School – quite unique.”  Amazing! This is tribute to the hard work and enthusiasm of the music staff and all the boys and girls who are involved.

The National Finals will take place at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, on Saturday 13 April, 2019.
