Why take a placement year?

Callie Rice, from the University of Bath gave a very informative “Business Lunch” talk on the value of placement years at university.

The benefits include: experience of the work place to see if you like it, a chance to network to make contacts,  develop confidence and communication skills, many placements are paid and you may even be offered a Graduate job at the end of it, also more students who take a placement year are more likely to achieve a first class honours in their degree.

Whilst it can be competitive and hard to gain a placement it’s great experience in applying to jobs after university and experiencing interviews and assessment days.

Taking a placement year will definitely improve your job prospects.
