Boys at Warwick have fantastic opportunities to develop their cricketing skills against some of the strongest cricketing schools in the Midlands. The school enters national and local cup competitions across the age groups at A & B team level. There is also the opportunity for further involvement in the hard fought house matches.
The first XI play a mixture of 50 & 40 over, declaration, T20 matches and finish the season at the SPREW cricket festival, alongside St Peters York, Repton and Epsom College.
Every two years up to 30 boys from the U14 & U15 teams tour Sri Lanka for two weeks. The boys learn so much from the tough conditions and challenging fixtures. They get to enjoy a high quality coaching session from an ex-international coach/player; visit several cultural points of interest as well as several fun activities. This has been a huge success and an incredibly memorable event for the boys and staff involved.
During the winter and summer, the boys receive outstanding coaching from ex-professional cricketers, Mr Francis, Director of Cricket as well as Mr Tedstone, Director of Sport and many passionate teaching staff. Mr Francis is a former Hampshire, Somerset, Nottinghamshire, England ‘A’ player, who was part of the Somerset squad to lift the T20 trophy in 2005.
Squad and group training occurs during the winter in the sports hall and in the summer, both during games lessons and after school. On site we have three quality grass squares and two artificial pitches, indoor and outdoor net facilities, to enable us to accommodate 16 teams, so that pupils and staff can enjoy their cricket throughout the academic year.
Warwick School also operates as a development centre hosting winter coaching programmes for Warwickshire County Cricket Club, and other local clubs, as well as both Warwickshire and District matches in the summer.
