Top 10 clubs at Warwick Junior School
An outstanding education for boys is one that not only maximises their academic potential but also helps them to find and nurture their passions outside of the classroom. Warwick Junior School boasts over 80 clubs to pique the interest of every boy.
As part of our approach to education, we are proud to offer a diverse range of co-curricular clubs before school, during lunch, or after school. Underpinned by the knowledge, enthusiasm and experience of our staff, the clubs are a fantastic opportunity for our boys to explore a new interest or develop an existing one, to broaden their skills, or to achieve excellence in a particular area of school life.
In the current climate, it is perhaps more vital than ever that schools accommodate the increasingly diverse areas that interest their pupils; with over 80 clubs on offer here at Warwick Junior School, we are confident that there is something that represents and piques the interest of every boy.
There truly is a rich diversity of areas across our co-curricular club provision; to echo this point, we have compiled a list of some of our most popular clubs…

Fresh from receiving a prestigious award from the BCET, Warwick Junior Chess continues to go from strength to strength. Every year group has a lunch time session and if boys show potential, they will be invited to Masters Chess on a Friday. The school 7 plays in the Warwickshire Chess league taking on and beating senior schools around the area. Mr Lam offers unrivalled coaching at both the lunch time clubs and fixtures.
Computer Skills (Years 3 and 4)
The first step to coding and computer programming is practicing your computer skills; this club helps boys to develop their skills using a range of online programs, games, and challenges. Touch typing, accessing applications, and file organization are just a few of the things that boys cover in the club, and it provides boys in Years 3 and 4 with a fantastic foundational knowledge of computer skills that will serve them well in the years to come.
Our boys have great fun in the club, with feedback such as:
- “I really like practising my English typing and I have improved from a letter every 6 seconds to every 4 seconds!”
- “Computer Skills helps you with your times tables and anything you are stuck with - the games are really fun.”
- “It's fun and I like the Maths games that we can play like MyMaths and TTRS”
Cookery Club (all year groups)
Cookery Club covers basic skills to encourage confidence in the kitchen in a safe environment. The aim is to prepare and cook step-by-step recipes that are fun to make and scrumptious to eat, with a balance of both sweet and savoury dishes.
Boys learn various skills such as measuring and weighing, chopping and grating, whisking, kneading, and many more. All ingredients and kitchen equipment are provided by the school; however, each boy is asked to bring his own apron and box to take home his finished product.
Every boy is given all the recipes covered at the end of the term, meaning they can recreate the delicious meals at home for the whole family!

Many boys enjoy the club so much that they follow the activity outside of school time, and some continue through into the Senior School. Grading also takes place, allowing boys to earn their belt as they develop their skillset and nurture a new passion.
The very nature of this club is to teach discipline – a vital skill that serves boys well all through school and beyond.

Laura Berridge, Founder and Artistic Director of Arts Insight, teaches the boys the fundamental aspects of performance art - exploring subjects such as mime, mask work, script work, devising improvisation, and audition techniques.
The sessions are fun and engaging, helping boys to gain confidence speaking or performing in front of their peers – skills that are hugely important both on the stage and in their wider lives.
Sports clubs - Cricket/Football/Rugby (all year groups)
Sport is an integral part of school life at Warwick. Whilst the sport changes depending on the time of year, no matter whether it’s cricket, football, or rugby, our sports clubs always prove to be amongst the most popular.
Whilst we aim for excellence in all that we do – including sport – we are equally passionate about allowing boys of all experiences and abilities to develop their skills. Along with our sports teams, which give every single boy the opportunity to represent the school, our sports clubs offer the perfect opportunity for boys to continue their development outside of lessons, to spend time with their friends doing something they love, and reap the benefits of physical education.

These are just some of the clubs that we proudly offer at Warwick Junior School. No matter your son’s interest, we are confident there is something that will engage him and will enrich his school life – and who knows, one of our clubs could turn out to be his lifelong passion…
