Ahead of the assessment day - a message from Mr Bond
I look forward to welcoming you and your son to Warwick Junior School for his entrance assessment next month, but firstly, I wanted to say thank you.
As a parent myself, I know just how important a decision it is to choose the right school for your son, especially in his formative years. I also recognise that for many parents, this decision is made over several months — or even years — after several school visits, hours spent browsing, and conversations with friends and family. By applying to our school, you confirm that all of the things that make me proud to be Headmaster at this school — nurturing our boys’ potential, providing opportunities to develop in and out of the classroom, and setting them up for senior school — aren’t just things we shout about, but things that you also see the value in.
Looking ahead to your son’s entrance assessment, I think that the most important reminder I can give is that no preparation is needed! I know that there may be a temptation to look for sample papers or put in extra hours of revision, but we advise against this. Our age-appropriate assessment is designed to reflect the teaching that takes place in all schools; we aim for the day itself to not feel pressurised, and I would suggest for parents to extend this sentiment in the lead up to the day too. Think of the assessment as just doing some extra homework!
A few weeks ago, you will have been sent some logistical instructions including when to arrive, what to wear, and what to bring — by our Registrar, Mrs Emma Hunt. Please do refer to that email when planning your day, but if you do have any further questions in the meantime, don’t hesitate to contact Mrs Hunt on 01926 776400 or by email at WSS-admssions@warwickschools.co.uk.
I wish your son the very best of luck next month, and we look forward to welcoming you to the school once again. Hopefully, this is just another step along you and your son’s journey with us, and you will become part of the Warwick family very soon.
With very best wishes,
Mr John Bond, Headmaster
