The Solihull Junior Open
On Sunday, 29 June, the Solihull Junior Open took place at Light Hall School. This English Chess Federation rated tournament was organised by the Warwickshire Chess Association and formed part of the Warwickshire Junior Chess Grand Prix.
There were a number of boys that represented Warwick Junior School and some fantastic results were achieved.
In U11 Group D, Jason won a bronze medal and Jude won a silver medal.
In U11 Group C, Alex won a silver medal.
In U11 Group A, James Palmer-Brown produced a tour-de-force performance in a very strong field, finishing in joint-first place and winning a well-deserved gold medal. His result was all the more impressive considering he defeated three higher-rated players, including a member of the England national junior team.
Well done to all the boys for their performances!
