TCS London Mini Marathon 2026

I had the opportunity to take part in the TCS London Mini Marathon on the 25th April.
It was a pleasantly sunny day in London with a gentle breeze. My parents and I got to London around 10:20. I was in wave 20, which started at 11:54. I really couldn’t wait ! This IS the real thing! The REAL London marathon! And I am here!

There were two options. I could either run for 1 mile or 2.6 km. The finishing line is at the iconic Mall. I decided to challenge myself and signed up for the 2.6 km.

St James's Park was so busy when we got there ! The energy, the vibe, the atmosphere. Of course, Joe Wicks was there too, warming up on the stage. We got there 30 minutes before my starting time. My mum was waiting for us in the clubhouse by the finishing line. My dad had his running shoes on and was accompanying me. I put my bib on 10315, I was ready to go!

We quickly got to the starting line for the famous Horse Guards Parade. At 11.54am, it was go time ! The starting line was busy, we ran through the Birdcage, walked all the way to Buckingham Palace, and went back to the Mall to finish.

As I was running, the weather was getting very hot, I was also getting tired. My dad kept telling me to keep going and don’t stop. There were also so many people cheering for us on the street. I felt very motivated again. When I ran past the golden Victoria Memorial statue in front of the Palace, I knew I wasn’t far from the end. So I told myself not to give up! My medal is waiting for me!

Before I reached my finishing line, I heard a familiar voice shouting “Go Ted! Go!” It was my mum! I speeded up, running as fast as I could, reaching the line! When I crossed the line, I was handed a very shiny medal by marathon runner Sifan Hassan. I felt so tired but yet so good! It was my first time participating in events like this. I managed to finish in 15 minutes. I was very proud of myself.

After the run, we all had some nice burgers at the clubhouse. We were also able to go to the finishing bridge to watch and cheer for others.

It was definitely a memorable experience. I am so glad I did it ! Maybe I will try and do the adult marathon one day !
