Celebrating Lunar New Year

Today is Lunar (or Chinese) New Year, which signifies the end of winter and the beginning of a new year. It also marks the start of the lunisolar calendar, and for 2025, the arrival of the Year of the Snake.
With roots tracing back around 3500 years to Ancient China, Lunar New Year holds deep importance in Chinese culture. Beyond a celebration, it represents thousands of years of cultural heritage, unites families and communities, and is observed with various traditions and festivities. It has been fantastic to see some decorations around our boarding house to mark the beginning of the festival.
In celebration of Lunar New Year at Warwick, our catering team also served a special lunch menu at lunchtime today. The menu consisted of kung pao chicken or salt and pepper tofu as the main dish, vegetable chow mein and asian-style stir-fry greens as accompaniments, and lime and mango syllabub for dessert; all three dishes were thoroughly enjoyed across the school.
