Just before our return to school this year, Ryan in Year 11 was busy competing in the two-day, National Sprint Regatta, held at the National Water Sports Centre, Holme Pierrepoint, Nottingham.
The annual OWs Tennis and Cricket matches made a return to the Warwick School campus this year for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic began. 2020 leavers also finally had the opportunity to take part in a long overdue Rugby Shirt Presentation.
Warwick School has a proud history of student athletes who have achieved great things in their chosen sports – not only during their time at school – but also after they have left. Current old boys have gone on to careers playing professional Cricket, Rugby and Football, whilst a good number have also competed at the highest levels of their sport in Athletics, Hockey and Squash to name a few.

Last week the 1st XI played their prestigious declaration game against the MCC. The boys toiled in the field and kept the club down to a reasonable total. In response the team were unable to withstand the mature swing bowling from the MCC and despite a stalwart innings by the Captain, Williams, Sheehan, Ainley and Mills, the 1stXI succumbed to defeat with only 4 overs to spare, agonisingly close to a draw. Sheehan's three wicket haul earned him the players award from the MCC captain after the game.

It has been an epic week of cricket since our last report, 24 fixtures, 14 wins, and 11 half-centuries.
Another maiden century was scored last weekend with a fantastic knock by Tom for the 1st XI against Abingdon. Sadly this was not enough to take the game out of reach of the opposition, with the 1stXI losing in the penultimate over.
What an outstanding first weekend of cricket we had against RGS Worcester: 60 cricketers, 6 staff, 4 wins, one century, 6 half-centuries, and ten 1st XI debuts.
The Rugby 7s season culminated in the historic schoolboy Rugby tournament at Rosslyn Park last week. We entered teams at U11, U13, U14, U16 and U18 age groups. It was a fantastic week of weather too which provided an amazing experience for all our players.

What a term it has been so far for Hockey! Each of our teams have had an exceptionally busy few weeks with cup games and county competitions, as well as blocks of fixtures against Bishop Vessey, KES Stratford and Solihull.
