Latin and Greek speaking competition success

On Wednesday 4 February, a team of 13 boys travelled with Mr Stephenson to Nottingham High School to take part in the annual regional Latin and Greek Speaking Competition, joining pupils from nine other schools across a range of categories.
Warwick has a strong tradition of success at this event — some years winning every category we enter — and once again our boys featured prominently on the leaderboard.
In the Intermediate Greek solo category, Victor achieved an impressive second place out of nine competitors. Mr Stephenson noted that the overall winner delivered “perhaps the best Greek verse reading” he has ever heard at this level — making Victor’s result all the more commendable.
We were narrowly beaten in the Novice Latin mini‑play (groups of four), which had 37 competitors. Barnaby, Freddie, Oliver and Jay secured a strong second place with an excellent performance.
In the Junior Latin pairs category, which included 28 competitors, Matei and Jenson were highly commended, while Danny and Oliver took first place, rounding off a superb day for Warwick.
