A feast of musical excellence
On Monday 20 April, parents and visitors alike were treated to a feast of musical excellence. Four complete concerti were performed by soloists from the Upper Sixth, accompanied by pupils from across the Warwick Schools Foundation and staff. The event was made even more special by the fact that the pupils performed alongside many of their music teachers, who they have practised with for many years.
The programme included music by Bach (Brandenberg Concerto No.4 in G Major), Hummel (Trumpet Concerto in E-Flat Major), Mozart (Violin Concerto No.3 in G Major) and Vivaldi (Double Cello Concerto in G Minor), showcasing the depth and breadth of musical talent at Warwick School and within the Foundation.
The sixth formers who performed have had to manage both their musical and academic commitments over the past two years, with many of the musicians within the Sixth Form having received offers at prestigious academic institutions including Imperial, Durham and Bristol. In addition, many musicians have decided to take their musical interest further by applying to conservatoires and have received offers from the Royal Academy of Music, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Royal Northern College of Music.
Warwick School’s Sixth Form offers a range of personalised pathways for its pupils, both academically and musically. The Sixth Form experience provides its pupils with bespoke advice from the Sixth Form team and wider staff on their chosen career paths, with a focus on character development.
