A Warwick school pupil has achieved national recognition after winning a prestigious competition hosted by the English Speaking Union (ESU).
In June 2025, Angelo (Year 10) impressed judges with a powerful performance of a speech from Julius Caesar on the iconic Globe Theatre stage. Out of 12 finalists from across the country, Angelo was announced as the overall winner, marking a remarkable achievement for the young performer.
The celebrations continued this month when Angelo, accompanied by his teacher, travelled to Devonshire House in London for a special reception. The event was held to mark Princess Anne’s appointment as President of the ESU, following her recent role as patron. Winners of the ESU’s competitions, along with the teachers who guided them, were invited to meet Her Royal Highness.
During the reception, Princess Anne spoke at length with Angelo about his future aspirations in drama, offering encouragement as he looks ahead to pursuing his passion for the stage.
