On Sunday, 5 October, the Birmingham Junior Chess Open took place. This tournament was rated by the English Chess Federation and also formed part of the Warwickshire Junior Chess Grand Prix.
The county's best junior players were out in force, including a number of boys from Warwick.
From the Senior School, David W produced a fantastic performance in his first ever chess tournament outside of school. He finished in outright second place in U18 Group B, winning a silver medal.
From the Junior School, Ansh A scored a fine 3/5 to finish in third place in U11 Group D, winning a bronze medal. This was a particularly proud moment for Ansh as it marked the first time he has medalled in a chess tournament outside of school; a testament to his progress and hard work.
Well done to both and to all the boys from Warwick who competed!
