Bromsgove Young Musicians' Platform success

In February half-term, Alexander (Year 9) took part as a flautist in the senior category (ages 14-18) of the Bromsgrove Young Musician's Platform, a yearly event renowned for its exceptionally high calibre of participants.

Having only turned 14 in late January, Alex was the youngest competitor in his section and he gave an outstanding performance of the French female composer, Cécile Chaminade's, wonderful Concertino for Flute and Piano. With a pre-selection round whittling entrants down to around 50 for the first round live audition and then only four musicians being chosen to contest the grand final, Alex was delighted to be awarded the only Highly Commended certificate in the senior age category, effectively placing him fifth overall. This is an exceptional achievement and thoroughly well-deserved as recognition for his mature and sophisticated musicianship. Congratulations Alex!

A special mention also goes to Max (Year 7) who performed beautifully in the Junior age category.
