Inspiring challenges to help ignite futures

On Thursday 18 June, pupils from across Warwick School took part in a series of fundraising activities in support of Warwick Schools Foundation's inaugural Igniting Futures Giving Day.
Education has the power to change futures and the Foundation is proud to provide around 130 bursary places across its schools, which enable children from a wide range of backgrounds to benefit from a transformative education.
Giving Day is an opportunity to celebrate the impact of this support and the difference it already makes to our community. It also aims to raise awareness and funds for bursaries and financial hardship support, helping current and future pupils to thrive.
One of the highlights saw Year 7 pupils take on a unique Decibel Challenge, attempting to sing as loudly as a passing train at a nearby level crossing (90 decibels). Bringing together lots of enthusiasm and vocal power, the pupils rose to the challenge and reached an impressive 108 decibels!
Pupils also put their fitness to the test in a House Fitness Challenge. Representing their houses, 126 pupils competed in a House Marathon, with teams of runners each completing a 2km course and combining their times to determine the winning house. Alongside the marathon, 98 pupils also took part in a range of fitness challenges, including burpees, press-ups, plank holds and rowing sprints to secure themselves some more house points.
Brooke had the highest number of participants in a single house and other impressive performances included:
- Theo who managed to hold a plank for 12 minutes and 9 seconds
- Guy House Captain, Zak, had the fastest 100m row
- Oliver, Year 8, won two categories for Brooke
- Greville house won the most events
It was wonderful to see so many boys get involved and work to help make a difference to both current and future Warwickians. Well done to all!
