Movember and National Men's Day 2023

Sunday, 19 November marked the celebration of National Men’s Day. A day to celebrate the positive value that men bring to the world, their families, and communities. This year we focussed on mental health, where we were encouraging the boys to start positive conversations with each other and talk when they needed to. Mr Etheridge, Dr. McKee and Mr Preece spoke in assemblies about their mental health and the positive difference a conversation can make.

The Gender Equality Team also ran a doughnut sale called ‘Dough for a bro’, where a student could buy their friend a doughnut and send them a positive message. All money raised went towards the Papyrus charity.

And finally, some members of the Sixth Form and staff proudly grew a moustache to raise money for the Movember charity. A charity designed specifically for men and to raise awareness of men’s issues such as mental health, prostate and testicular cancer, and the moustache being a symbol for better men’s health and starting that important conversation.

So far the school has raised an astonishing £3521; an amazing achievement. A special mention to the boys who worked hard at fundraising: Joel, Felix, Brynn, Will, Kaan, Charles. Thank you to all who donated and those who took part in the event, it is an incredible accomplishment and for a worthy cause.
