Old Boy – New Success

Old boy Max Blinkhorn, who left school last summer to go to university, has been selected for the England U20s Rugby Squad. He was involved in both squads in their recent rugby matches, as they prepare for the upcoming U20s 6 Nations. The young team lost out to a strong Bath United side in early January, but prevailed against Oxford University the following week - with Blinkhorn crossing the whitewash for a fantastic try.

Max’s journey to international recognition is a lesson in perseverance for all our young athletes at the school. As a player who in Year 12 was battling for game time in the 1st XV and with his regional academy, he has shown tremendous progress over the last two years. His work ethic to hone his skills, attention to detail and hunger to improve were attributes which he always showed at school, and the hard work has paid off, propelling him into the England squad.

As Max continues to balance his playing commitment with his full-time degree at Nottingham University, we all wish him well with the upcoming 6 Nations and hope he continues to shine for England.
