Talking AI

This week, Lower Sixth pupils took part in an engaging conference focused on the growing role of artificial intelligence in society and education.

The event began with a series of keynote talks from external speakers, who shared their expertise and insights into the opportunities and challenges presented by AI. Pupils were encouraged to think critically about how artificial intelligence is shaping the modern world and the responsibilities that come with its use.

Following the presentations, pupils worked collaboratively in groups to complete a range of creative tasks, applying the ideas they had explored throughout the day. The conference also provided an opportunity for pupils to take the lead, with several students delivering presentations on different uses of AI and its potential impact across a variety of fields.

Their work was then presented to a panel of judges, allowing pupils to showcase their research, creativity and communication skills while engaging in thoughtful discussion about this rapidly developing technology.

The conference provided a valuable opportunity for pupils to deepen their understanding of AI and explore both its possibilities and limitations. A key message throughout the day was that, while AI can be a powerful tool, it should support rather than replace critical thinking, creativity and human judgement.

A huge thank you goes to everyone involved in organising the event, as well as the guest speakers and judges who generously gave their time and expertise to help make the conference such a success. Their contributions provided pupils with valuable insight into one of the most important topics shaping the future.
