Warwick chess players shine in Isle of Wight!

We are delighted to share more chess success over half-term. Warwick's resident chess master, Billy, competed in the very strong Isle of Wight Master's section. He scored a creditable 4 points with draws against an International Master and Grandmaster, Danny Gormally, one of England's best players.
Also competing, in the U1600 weekend section, was Gregory, a previous winner of the same section. Gregory has had a tough string of recent results, but he put everything behind him for one of his favourite tournaments. He stormed to 4/4 and in the final round faced the only other player on 100%. After an epic four hours, Gregory emerged triumphant, becoming a two-time Isle of Wight winner with a perfect 5/5 and taking home a handsome purse prize.
Many congratulations to both boys for their performances!
