  • Mr Bond's week in review - 7 February

This week we celebrated, along with many schools across the country, Children’s Mental Health Week. The theme this year is 'Know Yourself, Grow Yourself' which encourages children to embrace self-awareness so that they can grow and develop the resilience to cope with future challenges.

In Monday’s assembly, we talked about the philosopher Socrates who said, ‘The most important thing is to try and know yourself’. By taking notice of ourselves and how we feel, we can make better choices and know when we need support. Further resources and guidance for parents and families can be found at:

In Monday’s assembly, Mr Burchett asked some of the boys to re-create a scene from one of his favourite films, 'The Replacements'. In this American Football comedy, the replacement players were asked to admit their fears to the rest of the team. The players spoke about spiders and bees - not exactly what the coach was hoping for. In the end the quarterback speaks up and talks about quicksand. He said, "You try to fight back, but the harder you fight, the deeper you sink. Until you can't move... you can't breathe...because you're in over your head. Like quicksand."
