It has been a frustrating week of working from home after testing positive for Covid. The timing of my absence was all the more disappointing as I was unable to watch the Year 4 production. By all accounts it was full of bright costumes, dancing, singing and even a bit of rapping. I was told that the play really did transport everyone to a galaxy far, far away in the spacecraft, The Millennium Penguin (which even has cup holders!).
It was wonderful to see the overwhelming and generous support to Scott House's table top sale to raise money for UNICEF. Scott's election of UNICEF at the start of the academic year proved to be remarkably prescient, providing an opportunity for all our community to support the people of Ukraine. Children are naturally generous and also eager to respond when there is need. Hopefully the money raised will make a meaningful contribution to the humanitarian crisis.
The boys all seemed to be glad to be back and energised after their half term break. There is so much to look forward to during the next few weeks as we head towards our concert, Year 4 production and all our sporting tournaments. This week marked the first time for many months when we did not have any boys self-isolating. With the boys (and staff) enjoying the fun of World Book Day, it feels as if school is finally returning to normal.
No doubt that at the end of the day both boys and staff will be breathing a collective sigh of relief that we have made it to half term.
I have reminded the boys on several occasions recently that we are now deep in report writing season, thus their need to be producing their very best work.
We are now becoming very familiar with the ever-revolving door of Covid absences. The late evenings and early mornings are punctuated by email messages announcing another case and the well-oiled system of moving to remote learning begins. A flurry of emails follow as Mrs Cowie and Ms Sayers swing into action to upload documents and prepare to support the small army of boys self-isolating.
School, parents and boys are becoming accustomed to awaiting the confirmation of return following two negative test results and parents no doubt breathe a sigh of relief when boys finally can return.
Mr Hymer joined our Year 5 boys for their day at Top Adventure. "This was our first day trip since the pandemic first broke in March 2020. It proved to be a hugely successful day with boys enjoying climbing, archery, water sports and laser tag. The day ended with a barbecue and cakes."
Thomas played in two 'Cello and Double Bass' classes at the Leamington Spa Competitive Festival.
The Green Team may not be able to meet in person at the moment, but we are still very much committed to keeping the environment on the agenda.

The delivery of the eggs and the egg incubator has stirred the boys' interests this week.
It has been very pleasing to see so many boys achieving their Diploma Awards over the last couple of weeks.
