A Day in the Life

Litter picking in St Nicholas Park

On Monday morning Year 8 boys, all 134 of them, went on a litter picking extravaganza in St Nicholas’s Park, Warwick.

The aim was to encourage the boys to take greater responsibility for their rubbish and show a bit of humility in doing something for the community that they may not particularly feel comfortable with.

It was also to support Warwick District Council in their bid to achieve Gold Medal status in the ‘Warwick in Bloom’ competition, with the park being inspected that afternoon.

Mandy Littlejohn, chair of community and culture at Warwick Town Council said, “We are extremely grateful to the students and staff at Warwick School who have been involved in helping to maintain a clean environment at St Nicholas Park.”

A number of passers-by on the morning commented about how grateful they were to see students litter picking and helping in the local community.

Warwick School Green Team has recently received their bronze award and the litter picking is a step towards silver award status in the Green Flag Award national scheme.
