Excellent Employability Conference

Yesterday Warwick School hosted its second Employability Conference for pupils and parents from Year 10 upwards with +400 attending.

All of the exceptionally talented speakers, focused on an analysis of the current landscape for graduates, how to get ahead of the game, what universities are doing to promote Employability and what Times Top 100 recruiters look for, as well as interview tips and an insight into the recruitment process.

Our speakers included Martin Birchall founder of High Fliers Research and editor of “The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers” Eluned Jones, Director of Employability at the University of Birmingham, James Uffindell, entrepreneur and founder of Bright Network, Daniel Farrar from student recruitment at PwC and Gus Grieve, Area Manager from Aldi. There was also an opportunity to meet with and talk to representatives from JLR, Pinsent Masons, Savills and Apex Recruitment.

Key messages included the importance of doing what you love at uiversity, making the most out of available opportunities and gaining as much Work Experience as possible. These are all key messages the pupils receive through the Careers Department at Warwick School and through sessions on Employability and other events.

A Year 10 parent said, “The speakers were brilliant - engaging, eloquent and fonts of knowledge in their fields - pitching their presentations perfectly to appeal to both boys and parents alike.”
