This week we have been devoting some time to celebrating Art. Writing this blog feels very strange, as at school Art was definitely my worst subject. I struggled to draw or paint anything recognisable. And today I certainly would not describe myself as any sort of expert in art. When a painting is being discussed by experts on television and they are visibly animated by brush work or the type of paint used, I am lost.
We have received the below communication advertising COVID vaccinations for 12-15 year olds during January at Stoneleigh. We thought parents may wish to know about this opportunity for first and second doses.
It has been a fantastic start to 2022 for Rugby and Hockey with some brilliant wins and hard fought losses. Read our weekly sports report below:

Warwick School will remain open if it is safe to do so; the decision being taken across the Foundation. Notification about whether the school is open or closed will be made to all staff and parents as soon as possible on the day in question and normally by 07:00am.
This term pupils attending Middle School Drama Club have been practically exploring the theatrical adaptation of Michael Morpurgo's 'Kensuke's Kingdom' - a story of a boy named Michael who washes up on a desert island only to meet a curious man named Kensuke and help each other discover the meaning of home. The boys are proud to share with you a small selection of monologues, duologues and group pieces sharing the perspectives of a few of their favourite characters. Y8/9 Drama Club runs on a Wednesday lunchtime from 1:30-2:00pm
Join us for our Christmas Day Service in the Chapel - we wish everybody a happy and healthy festive season.
Last week the Psychology Department welcomed Neuroscientist Dr Guy Sutton, Professor at Nottingham University Medical School, for ‘Brain Day’. Upper Sixth Psychologists were inspired by a full day of lectures exploring the brain at a more undergraduate level, going beyond the specification of A-level study.
‘Why do we need to know this?’ and, ‘Is this in the exam?’ are two of the most dispiriting questions to hear as a teacher. We want to reply like W B Yeats and say: ‘Education is not the filling of a pail but the lighting of a fire.’ We like to think that each lesson is like those adverts on the television where children stare in wonder at the magic their teacher is weaving and the ‘aha’ moments zip around the room like Christmas lights. We don’t want to face the fact that for some children the ability to solve quadratic equations or identify sibilance in a poem will never be needed as adults.
On Tuesday, 30 November, our A-Level Drama students journeyed to the frosty but festive Stratford-upon-Avon to see some… wait for it... LIVE THEATRE!
On Saturday, 27 November, Warwick School competed in the regional round of the National Concert Band Festival, which took place in Warwick Hall. Six bands from Warwick School entered the competition, all with the goal of impressing the panel of adjudicators and gaining a qualifying award for the National finals in Manchester in April.
